On August 15, the fourth National Ecology Day, the Sichuan provincial main event themed "Building a Solid Green Foundation for Chinese Modernization" was held in Ya'an. As the "Lung of Tianfu" and a "gene bank of flora and fauna," Ya'an shared its green transition practices of "developing through protection and protecting through development," as the eco-value of Panda Tea's hometown accelerates its transformation into high-quality growth momentum.
Three Eco-Foundations, A Solid Green Base
At the event, Ya'an shared its experience built on three eco-foundations: biodiversity, eco-environment quality, and eco-spatial patterns. Data shows that 39.45% of Ya'an's territory falls within the Giant Panda National Park, where 340 wild giant pandas thrive; forest coverage reaches 69.42%, ranking first in Sichuan; air quality has ranked among the top 30 of China's 168 key cities for 10 consecutive years, and the excellent rate of water quality at national and provincial monitoring sections has remained 100% for five consecutive years. Clean skies, clear waters, and pure soil have become the most inclusive well-being of Panda Tea's hometown.
Four Conversion Paths, Turning Green into Gold
Keeping green is not enough - activating green matters more. Ya'an is actively exploring four conversion paths: thriving through water, sequestering carbon through forests, enriching farmers through tea, and strengthening industry chains through data. Among them, the "enriching farmers through tea" path shines brightly - the vast eco-tea gardens at the foot of Mengding Mountain are becoming the "golden leaves" of rural revitalization.
Carbon-Neutral Conference, Giving Back to Panda Habitat
The event practiced a low-carbon conference philosophy: its 5.986 tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions were offset by purchasing certified carbon reductions from the "Baoxing Giant Panda Habitat Protection and Restoration Carbon Inclusive Project" through the Sichuan United Environment Exchange platform, achieving carbon neutrality for the conference. The carbon-inclusive mechanism provides market-based returns for panda habitat conservation and offers new ideas for more tea towns and forest areas to realize ecological value.
Meanwhile, provincial ecological achievements were also released - Sichuan's eco-environment quality has reached its best level in nearly 20 years, and the number of wild giant pandas encountered in field monitoring rose from 135 to 185, fully demonstrating the "umbrella effect."
Panda Tea: A Cup That Witnesses Eco-Value
Panda Tea is rooted in the natural panda habitat at 800-1,500 meters above sea level on Mengding Mountain in Ya'an, adhering to an ecological cultivation model with zero chemical fertilizers and zero chemical pesticides, ingeniously blending the national treasure giant panda with millennia of tea culture. From the National Ecology Day main event landing in Ya'an to the deepening practice of the "enriching farmers through tea" path, Panda Tea will continue to tell the vivid story of "green mountains and clear waters are mountains of gold and silver" through a cup of fine eco-tea from the panda's hometown.
