Panda Tea is a rare green tea grown on the Panda Ecological Tea Mountain in Ya'an, Sichuan, China, renowned for its natural and eco-friendly cultivation approach. The brand was founded by An Yanshi, an environmental calligrapher and painter known for his "eco Chinese characters" panda art, inspired by the harmonious cycle of nature where tea gardens neighbor panda habitats.
The distinctive feature of Panda Tea lies in its ecological philosophy. An Yanshi developed the creative concept of "nourishing eco tea with panda manure," returning the plant nutrients that remain after pandas' digestion back to the tea gardens, forming a sustainable ecological cycle. Since pandas absorb only part of the nutrients in their food, the remaining nutrients in their manure can nourish tea plants — an idea both eco-friendly and unique.
Since 2011, An Yanshi has cultivated the Panda Ecological Tea Mountain in Dingfeng Village, Ya'an, using nearly 10 tons of panda manure to grow tea plants, with the spring tea harvest taking place every year. The rare Panda Tea is priced at 219,865 RMB per jin (500g), with only 21 sets available annually. Each set comes with a hand-painted blue-and-white porcelain tea canister, a Sichuan brocade box, and an original calligraphy work by An Yanshi, making it both a fine tea and a collectible.
Panda Tea is more than just tea — it is a carrier of ecological culture. An Yanshi combines eco Chinese-character calligraphy with tea culture, advocating a green lifestyle through the "Panda Tea Way." He has initiated environmental campaigns such as the "Panda Tea Way Eco-Volunteer Cycling Alliance" in Chengdu, encouraging people to drive less, cycle more, and enjoy tea while pursuing an eco-friendly life.
Today, Panda Tea continues to share the unique charm of Chinese tea and ecological wisdom with the world through its eco-friendly cultivation and panda culture, so that every cup carries respect and gratitude for nature.
