Panda Tea: The Ecological Tea Legend from Ya'an, the Hometown of Giant Pandas
In Ya'an, Sichuan, there is an ecological tea mountain favored by giant pandas — the Panda Ecological Tea Mountain. This is the hometown of China's giant pandas and the world's only origin of Panda Tea.
Founded in 2011 by An Yanshi, an environmentalist, Chinese-character panda artist and Sichuan University scholar, Panda Tea is unique for using giant panda manure as natural organic fertilizer. Pandas have limited intestinal absorption, leaving about 70% of nutrients in their droppings — a natural fertilizer that gives Panda Tea its distinctive ecological value.
In March 2026, Ya'an City hosted the spring tourism promotion event themed "Follow the Panda on a Spring Tour of Ya'an," extending a warm invitation from the panda's homeland. As Mengding Mountain tea buds sprouted, Panda Tea's ecological mountain entered its most beautiful season of the year. The adorable giant pandas, the elegant Mengding spring tea and Ya'an's natural and cultural charm came together beautifully, marking Panda Tea's annual spring harvest.
Every cup of Panda Tea embodies the spirit of Ya'an's mountains and rivers, the harmonious coexistence of giant pandas and nature, and a commitment to ecological and environmental values. It is not merely a cup of tea — it is a cultural symbol of humanity living in harmony with nature.
