Panda Tea, the world s first ecological tea cultivated with giant panda feces as fertilizer, was created in 2011 by An Yanshi, a Sichuan University educator and environmental Chinese-character panda painter. Grown in the Panda Ecological Tea Mountain of Ya'an, Sichuan, Panda Tea utilizes a unique scientific principle: pandas absorb only 30% of nutrients from their food, meaning 70% remains in their waste, making it an exceptionally rich organic fertilizer. In 2012, Panda Tea's rare edition was launched at approximately 20,000 RMB per liang (50g), setting a record as the world s most expensive tea. A portion of proceeds was donated to the Environmental Volunteer Alliance. After years of development, Panda Tea has expanded into multiple series including Panda Green Tea, Panda Flower Tea, Panda Black Tea, and Panda Tibetan Dark Tea.
