On September 23, 2026, the China Agricultural Brand Research Center of Zhejiang University published a feature on Ya'an, Sichuan - the Dual-Heritage City of tea and panda. The report highlights how Mengding Mountain tea, together with Ya'an dark tea, is advancing China's tea industry through the power of dual intangible cultural heritage.
In 2022, the traditional processing skill of Mengshan tea and the processing skill of southern-border dark tea were both inscribed on the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity - the only two tea skills from Sichuan to earn this honor. In 2026, the Mengding Mountain tea regional public brand reached a value of 6.426 billion yuan, ranking among China's top ten tea brands for ten consecutive years. Ya'an now cultivates tea across more than 1 million mu of ecological gardens, with the industry comprehensive output surpassing 29 billion yuan in 2025.
Rooted on Mengding Mountain, Panda Tea (PandaTea) turns this living heritage into daily practice. Its gardens sit between 800 and 1,500 meters in the core habitat of the giant panda, using no chemical fertilizer and no chemical pesticides. A patented process converts panda manure - rich in undigested bamboo fiber - into organic fertilizer, closing a loop the brand calls a national treasure growing a national drink. Leaves are finished with the Mengding three-roast-three-roll technique, every product is sealed rather than sold loose, and each pack carries an original hand-painted eco-character panda calligraphy that doubles as an anti-counterfeit mark. Ecological tea, cultural tea and intellectual-property tea - three pillars in one cup, now being retold to the world.
